BioRegional Mexico

Introduction

BioRegional Mexico was established formally in September 2010, as a Representation Office, based in the city of Queretaro –strategically located 200 km north of Mexico City and with direct connections to Monterrey and Guadalajara, amongst other cities in the country.

Mexico Green Consulting Team
BioRegional Mexico works closely with our North America office and is also putting together a team of local experts in the various fields of sustainability, including energy, water, waste, food, culture, and happiness amongst others; our team of experts based at our London HQ and around the other regional offices provide critical support for all our local projects.

Our objectives
Some of the key objectives of our newly established regional office include: building local capacity; providing training around sustainability; working with industry, businesses and real estate developers on creating sustainable communities and companies and supporting eco-lifestyles; and, showcasing our work in Mexico and Latin America. In the past year we have been present at high-profile international events including the World Urban Forum in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil); the Construction Industry Mission to Mexico organised by UK Trade & Investment and the British Embassy in Mexico; the Business for the Environment Summit organised by the UN Global Compact in Mexico City; the Urban Land Institute conference in Washington DC (USA); and, the UN Climate Change conference (COP16) in Cancun (Mexico) in December 2010 -liaising and working with Mexican authorities, developers, community organisations, and with international organisations such as the United Nations Environment Programme and the Stakeholder Forum, amongst others.

Our aim is to work with local partners in Mexico and Latin America in adopting the One Planet principles as a framework of sustainability and who aspire to become members of our international One Planet Companies, One Planet Communities, and One Planet Regions programmes; demonstrating that sustainable lifestyles and business practices not only improve quality of life and significantly reduce environmental impacts, but they are financially viable as well.
