Mark is the Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for personnel/human resources; performance monitoring; legal and contractual issues; project and business planning; and trouble-shooting for project issues. The role forms the Internal Board in conjunction with the Finance Director and the Executive Director. Mark has been with BioRegional since 2007 and is also the Executive Director of One Planet Products.

Before joining BioRegional Mark was the managing director of an award-winning internet business with a turnover of £1m and 12 staff, which he turned around from substantial losses into operational profit. Additionally Mark was elected to Croydon Council in 2002 and served as the Cabinet Member for Equalities and Community Partnerships. Previously Mark was the Communications Director at Stonewall.

Mark has a undergraduate degree in environmental geography and a MSc in Architecture and Environmental Energy Studies from the Centre for Alternative Technology. He is also a Chartered Manager; member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

In 1986 Mark spent three months in Dhaka, Bangladesh studying the affects of poverty on social exclusion and the environment and then in 1991 led a six month expedition to the Amazon to consider the environmental and climatic consequences of rainforest destruction. Before going to university Mark spent one year working voluntarily in the township of Alexandria in South Africa and in 2003 climbed Kilimanjaro to raise money for HIV / AIDS projects in Africa.
