Bicester Eco-town Programme Manager, AIEMA, BEng Hons 1st class
Nicole leads a growing programme of activities around the Bicester Eco Town in Oxfordshire. With clients at both the district council and private developers, Nicole coordinates and delivers Bioregional's Sustainability Integrator function by advertising on all environmental aspects of the eco town. Nicole has initiated a number of successful research and development bids to enhance the work in Bicester, winning funding for cutting edge climate change adaption work, smart grid technologies, carbon mapping and public engagements on domestic energy efficiency and post occupancy evaluation of new homes.
Nicole comes from a civil engineering background and joined BioRegional in 1997. She led the ZED programme within BioRegional throughout the BedZED project and having bought a flat there, she lived at BedZED for 10 years as well as working there. She authored the BedZED Construction Materials Report and the BedZED Carbon Neutral Toolkit. Nicole initiated and led the BioRegional Reclaimed programme, promoting and trading in reclaimed building materials. She was Technical Director of the One Planet Communities Programme, responsible for developing and maintaining the core technical capacity at BioRegional, covering: ecological footprinting, Sustainability Action Plans, carbon accounting, energy, waste and other sectoral expertise as required by the team.
Nicole graduated from Leeds University in 1990, spent five years in design consultancy at Knight Piesold & Partners and then two years as a site engineer for Taylor Woodrow on the Jubilee Line extension at London Bridge.
Nicole is listed in Building Magazine's Top 50 rising stars of sustainability for 2012.
