Community Education and Engagement Officer

Stephen works in the One Planet Regions team engaging with local community groups and individuals to inspire behaviour change and help them deliver low-carbon living projects. He is also working on the Olympic-inspired sustainability exhibition at BedZED.

Stephen has been involved in sustainable design and building since the early 1990s.  He has a background as a furniture designer-maker and ecological design consultant, running his own interiors business and lecturing in Ecodesign at colleges and universities.  In 2006 he completed a MSc Arch in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies.  He carried out research into the environmental impact of kitchens and recently worked on the EU’s Ecodesign initiative alongside cooking appliance manufacturers to recommend improvements in energy performance.

Since 2009 Stephen has been actively involved in community group Transition Town Brixton helping to develop local projects such as the Brixton Reuse Centre and delivering educational workshops on waste for local schools and businesses.
