Beginning in Birmingham last week, our One Planet Living Roadshow will be touring the UK with a series of events aimed at introducing local businesses to a simple framework to help them put sustainable working at the heart of their organisations.
Hosted by multidisciplinary engineering consultancy Cundall, the Birmingham Roadshow featured an introduction to One Planet Living by Sue Riddlestone, OBE, our co-founder and CEO. She went on to highlight the urgent need for green transformation and benefits of One Planet Living, as well as introducing OnePlanet.Net, a new platform that will offer a range of tools and resources to help businesses and cities play their part in creating a low-carbon future.
Sue explains: “Sustainability is still seen by most as tedious and mystifying. It doesn’t have to be this way. Our One Planet framework provides a positive vision of a better future and practical tools to help anyone, anywhere to start working to create that future.”
Lisa Trickett, Cabinet Member for Clean Streets, Recycling and The Environment and Chair of Birmingham’s Green Commission, spoke on the sustainability vision for Birmingham.
Rob van Zyl, Building Services Partner at Cundall, offered a business-eye view of how One Planet Living has made it possible to embed active and achievable sustainability as a keystone of Cundall’s business.
“For many companies, sustainability is seen as just another box-ticking exercise. But at Cundall, we’ve found that by placing it at the core of our business, it has become a positive business driver. Sustainability hasn’t been a burden to us, it’s driven us forward.”
The One Planet Living Roadshow will be hosted at various venues across the UK during 2017, continuing to introduce attendees to One Planet Living’s transformational approach of putting practical, transparent and measurable sustainability at the heart of local businesses.
