Protestors chant 'shame on you'
At the KlimaForum along with everyone else we are packing up our stands ready to leave Copenhagen soon. We are hearing different verdicts from the media all the time, one minute it’s ‘the deal is improving’ next it’s ‘the deal has stalled’. We don’t know what to expect… but either way we do need to keep the pressure on in these final hours, so if you haven’t done so already please use the tips that we gave in our blog yesterday to make yourself heard.
There was the Colossal Fossil award just now. Avaaz has been awarding 'fossil of the day' awards to the most climate deal-unfriendly countries over the course of the COP15. The overall winner is Canada (a leaked document said the government actually wanted to increase its emissions by 37%!) - a truly deserved winner. There were loads of video cameras at the very entertaining ceremony (you can watch the post-ceremony commentary below) and afterwards we got involved in a mass aerial photo, we held cut out faces of the worst world leaders, Rudd, Obama etc… There will be a candlelit aerial photo when it goes dark later too and we met a lady from Canada who had shaved her long hair off (she said another 30 women did this earlier today) these are the campaigners' last ditch efforts to push for a good deal before the end of the conference.
