Case study: Sustainable Living Workshops and Residential Outreach

Client: Waltham Forest Council

BioRegional facilitated sustainable lifestyle workshops with resident associations as part of an initiative to reduce CO2 emissions in Waltham Forest. This pilot project was focussed on helping residents to take action to reduce the CO2 impacts of their lifestyles and to save money.

The aim of the workshops was to empower residents to be able to take straightforward, practical actions to achieve a sustainable lifestyle and save money at the same time.

By designing an interactive workshop package for resident associations, it was possible to help people to identify and challenge the barriers to achieving specific behaviours and then develop their own personal action plans. This project just focused on energy and monitoring results showed that the actions following the workshop helped households to save an average of 20% on their energy-related carbon emissions.

Date of completion: July 2010
