Catherine Rubbens

Corporate Sustainability Manager

Catherine is the Account Manager for Corporate Sustainability. She manages the relationships with Bioregional's key corporate partner accounts including B&Q and Kingfisher. She provides consultancy over a range of projects including sustainability reporting and communications, stakeholder engagement and training.

Catherine joined Bioregional from VSO where she worked in a Corporate Engagement adviser role. Prior to this Catherine worked for AccountAbility as a Manager in their Advisory Services team where she managed the client relationship with one of its biggest clients in the Middle East.

Prior to that she held the position of Director, Responsible Business (RB) at The Rezidor Hotel group where she was responsible for the entire RB programme across EMEA. Her responsibilities included reporting on energy, water and waste, and the roll-out of a company-side sustainability training programme and the achievement of eco-labels by the hotels across five key regions.

Before that Catherine worked for six years as Director, Products & Services CSREurope, a Brussels-based organisation specialising in CSR. She account managed a portfolio of 13 corporate accounts from the FMCG, ICT, food and telecommunications sectors (including Unilever, Nestlé, and Sony). She has also previously worked as a Senior Environmental Consultant with the London-based communications company C21 and in environmental policy making, research, and capacity building for the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) in New York and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva.

Catherine studied economics at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, and specialised in development economics and macroeconomics. She also has a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Free University in Amsterdam.

Outside of work, Catherine enjoys hiking and biking in the outdoors, yoga and spending time with her family including her nine-year old daughter.
