BedZED seven years on
Overview

BioRegional's latest report looks at the pioneering BedZED develoment seven years after completion, and examines the lessons for other zero carbon developments.
BedZED was designed to minimise its ecological impact both in construction and operation. At the cutting edge of sustainable design in 2002, which of BedZED's catalogue of low-carbon solutions is the most practical and cost-effective in the long term?
Based on interviews with 71 households (out of 100) about food, transport, waste habits, and their feelings about living at BedZED, and using audits of waste, water, electricity and heat consumption, the report provides an honest and informative assessment of BedZED's successes and failures.
BedZED seven years on will be invaluable for architects, contractors, housing managers, and all those interested in practical measures to achieve sustainable construction and lifestyles.
