OPL Communities
There are two OPL communities underway in the UK. BioRegional’s
property company, BioRegional Properties has joined forces
with Quintain Estates to set up a joint venture company BioRegional
Quintain Ltd. BioRegional Quintain has over 1,000 zero
carbon homes in the pipeline and are the UK’s largest
developer of zero carbon homes.
In Brighton town centre,
construction of BQL’s One
Brighton project is underway next to Brighton station
and is due for completion in spring 2009. 172 homes and over
2,000m2 of community and commercial space will be developed
in partnership with Crest Nicholson.
BQL, Crest Nicholson and
Southern Housing Group have been selected as developers for
the Mayor of London’s zero carbon exemplar scheme at
Gallions
Park, East London, due to start on site in late 2008.
BQL are also working closely
with BioRegional to secure a larger Flagship project in London
based on the 2,000 home Z-squared
concept scheme. Known for now as the OPL
London project, BQL and BioRegional are seeking suitable
sites for a sizeable exemplar scheme for London.
OPL Regions and
boroughs
BioRegional are working with Sutton Council to deliver one
planet living across the borough. The Towards
One Planet Living in Sutton project plans to include mass
retrofit of energy efficiency measures to existing homes,
a borough wide Energy Services Company to supply renewable
energy, sustainable food initiatives, borough wide green transport
plan and much more …
OPL Companies
B&Q is the first retailer to join BioRegional’s
One Planet Living Programme. BioRegional and B&Q have
begun a three year partnership to help the company become
a world leading One Planet Living® business. BioRegional
will help B&Q to reduce its company impact on the world’s
resources and also to make it easy for B&Q customers to
have sustainable homes and gardens.
OPL Supply Chains
One
Planet Products is a member owned club which researches
and endorses construction products with the best sustainability
credentials. Members of the club include construction companies,
housing associations and architects involved with residential
development. OPP provides its members with a mechanism for
purchasing environmental products, materials and services
more cost effectively and more easily.
