The heritage of Yardley is lavender

When Yardley first opened its doors in London in 1770, lavender was the herb chosen to perfume an exclusive range of luxury soaps, a decision that established English Lavender as the international signature fragrance of Yardley. Expertise in Lavender bath luxuries soon developed into expertise in enduring English floral fragrances such as April Violets, Rose and Freesia, many of which are still in the company portfolio today. Royal patronage, which started with Charles I continued over the years and currently Yardley hold three honours: H.M. Queen Elizabeth II; H.M. Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother and H.R.H. The Prince of Wales
