Our solar power and battery storage project in Oxford is a finalist in the Energy Awards, with the winners to be announced at a ceremony in London in November.

Project ERIC (Energy Resources for Integrated Communities) has been shortlisted for the Innovation Energy Project of the Year and the Residential Energy Project of the Year.

ERIC, based in Oxford’s Rose Hill estate, has installed battery storage packs and electricity-generating photovoltaic panels on more than 80 homes, plus a community centre and a school. A car club electric car is also part of the £1.2m research and demonstration project, funded by government innovation agency Innovate UK.

The project aims to show how battery storage in households can lead to far more solar-generated power being used locally, benefiting both local people and the environment. Our partners in ERIC include high tech batteries firm Moixa Technology, Oxford Brookes University and Oxford City Council.
