This report is the culmination of the
first phase of work to justify a One Planet Living development
in the Thames Gateway. It outlines scenarios for on-site infrastructure

WWF UK that investigates the environmental and economic impacts of 200,000
homes developed in the Thames Gateway area to four different environmental
scenarios.

Design review to identify waste minimisation
opportunities in a flood alleviation scheme in South Wales. Reclamation Led Approach to Demolition
The report aims to build on past reclamation successes, to outline specific steps that will encourage and inspire clients and contractors to specify and deliver increased levels of reclamation on all demolition projects. Its overarching themes for facilitating reclamation include: reclamation or pre-demolition auditing; allowing sufficient time and space; clear communication of the benefits and improved planning and management. The report also includes fourteen case
studies that set out the cost and carbon savings that have been achieved
through increased reclamation, on sites in the UK and overseas. One Planet Living in the Suburbs
Co-authored by BioRegional Consulting
and WWF, this report focuses on communities and housing in suburbia where
around 86 per cent of the UK population lives. It examines the challenges
and opportunities of creating a more sustainable society and identifies
some of the real hurdles facing the UK government in its commitment to
cut carbon emissions by 60 per cent by 2050.
Examines how a sustainability rating
for homes might be implemented and covers how this might be extended to
cover existing homes as well as new build,and developed along the lines
of the A - G format of the EU Energy Label. Reclaimed materials guide for WRAP
BioRegional Consulting have produced
a guide to help construction professionals substitute reclaimed alternatives
for new products and materials to reduce the environmental impact and
embodied carbon of a project. Savings of 96% for reclaimed steel or 79%
for reclaimed timber are possible with little or no additional expense.
This report, produced jointly by the
BioRegional and CABE, offers timely advice to the agencies involved in
developing proposals for England’s eco-towns.
The Impact
of Transport
This report analyses the UK’s
current personal transport patterns and examines potential strategies
for reducing this impact. The report examines a variety of strategies
including increased efficiency of current transport modes, public transport
and biofuels. Scenarios, based on transport patterns in the South East
are also modelled to highlight potential strategies.
