The entrepreneurial
sprit of BioRegional has catalysed real and lasting examples of
how we can meet our needs in a sustainable way – Anita
Roddick OBE
We rely on donations to run pilot
schemes, undertake research, test new business ideas and promote
our work as models of best practice to allow others to replicate
them. We hope that you will lend us your support.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Every
£1,000 that goes into The Laundry saves 30 trees
from being felled to produce paper. This ratio will improve as we
aim to significantly expand the recycling collection during 2007/8.
Every £5,000
we spend on BioRegional Reclaimed saves over 800 tonnes of landfill
or almost 10 tonnes of potential CO2 emissions.
Wildlife and Sustainable Agriculture
Every
£1,000 donated to our Charcoal and Forestry projects
brings closer the first regional-scale charcoal kiln and increases
the area of UK woodland managed sustainably.
A donation of £5,000
towards Hemp for Textiles would help us increase the scope of the
field trials, trailing a new harvesting, transporting or chemical
separation method, giving the project a greater chance of successfully
developing viable new technology.
Tackling Climate Change
We
need to raise £125,000 to work with local
developers, government and NGOs to develop the designs and undertake
research for sustainable construction and infrastructure, in the
UK and in developing countries.
We need to raise £45,000
to match funding from government to undertake membership drive to
recruit 50 housing developers to One Planet Products in the next
year.
We need to raise £30,000
to replicate our award winning TreeStation, run technical trials
and increase the impact of our work on renewable energy from tree
surgery waste.
