The One Planet Living framework was developed by Bioregional from our experiences in co-creating the iconic BedZED eco-village in South London. So far there are more than 595,000 people living in, visiting and working at organisations, communities and cities that have committed to One Planet Living.

Bioregional co-founder and CEO Sue Riddlestone OBE says:

"Yesterday's IPCC report sends the overwhelming message that we can limit warming to 1.5 degrees C – if we act immediately and decisively. One Planet Living enables such decisive change to happen – and improves people’s lives by doing so. But it’s clear that transformational change is not happening quickly enough. We need to turbo-charge One Planet Living.

“So we have invested in creating a digital platform to enable more people to use One Planet Living. In addition to the platform we have developed a new training programme which will equip people to implement One Planet Living in their own projects and organisations, wherever they are in the world.

“Bioregional will continue to offer support for organisations to help them implement One Planet Living. And we will shine a light on those organisations and projects that we consider to be demonstrating the ambition needed to achieve One Planet Living through our leadership recognition programme.”

“Pooran Desai OBE, co-founder of Bioregional, today begins his exciting new role as CEO of He will still be based at Bioregional’s offices at BedZED and continue to work closely with Bioregional and with some of our One Planet Living partners.”

Pooran Desai says: is already providing cities, companies and schools with a way to greatly increase the ease and speed of creating, sharing and connecting sustainability plans - all in a fun way. The platform aims to use cutting edge database structures to help vision a better future. I’m really excited at the prospect of harnessing technology to create a ‘One Planet’ future.” has been in ‘closed beta testing’ until now. It is now available for wider testing before being fully launched later this year.
