Our materiality assessment helped international engineering consultancy Cundall feel confident that its sustainability strategy is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Brick By Brick is a property developer, wholly owned by Croydon Council, that’s providing properly designed, affordable homes for local people, while adding value to existing neighbourhoods.
With this strong sense of purpose, and a responsibility for public duty, Brick By Brick wanted a sustainability framework to support the entirety of its operations – from its offices and assets to its new-build developments.
Bioregional’s strong understanding of the challenges of new build development as well as sustainability best practice in the sector, meant we were well-placed to help Brick By Brick to create an effective sustainability action plan.
Using this in-depth understanding, we worked closely with the Brick By Brick team to develop an ambitious strategy that covers its entire operations.
This plan is structured using Bioregional’s One Planet Living® framework of ten simple principles, which ensures a joined-up, holistic approach to sustainability – tackling social, environmental and economic aspects.
We also built Brick By Brick a bespoke One Planet Living design tool. This will help its Development Managers to create ambitious ‘One Planet action plans’ for each of its 50 developments a year – ensuring each is in-line with its overall strategy.
Brick By Brick’s commitment to One Planet Living and its new objectives is clearly outlined in its Annual Business Plan for 2020. It is aiming to achieve leadership recognition this year.
The climate crisis, people and Croydon are at the heart of the Brick By Brick business plan and we needed a sustainability framework that reflected this. One Planet Living’s holistic approach is ideal, and Bioregional’s expert support to use it means we are confident that we have a robust and achievable action plan.Chloe Phelps, Head of Design and Commercial at Brick By Brick
