In 2018, Kingfisher launched its sustainable growth plan. Bioregional led the development of a new set of targets that respond to customer insights research as well as tackle key sustainability issues
Bioregional has more than 10 years’ experience of working with a range of businesses including major retailers like B&Q and Kingfisher to turn general sustainability objectives into concrete, realistic and science-based sustainability targets.
We start by identifying:
Through this review, and by looking at your current sustainability performance and business priorities, we will propose a long list of topics and KPIs to consider. We will then work with you to engage stakeholders and build consensus on what to focus on in your suite of sustainability targets.
If you need a more bespoke approach, Bioregional can create comprehensive models to inform the development of environmental targets.
For example for Kingfisher, we calculated the lifetime energy and carbon consumption of all energy-using product ranges. We then modelled how much energy and carbon reduction could be achieved by improving the energy performance standards of its ranges. This provided a strong evidence base on which to set a target and develop a clear roadmap to achieving it.
We also have a wealth of experience in setting greenhouse gas reduction targets that meet the criteria of the global Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
We will first review and analyse relevant SBT methodologies, consider business growth projections and carbon reduction scenarios.
Then we will advise which target would be most appropriate considering your sustainability strategy and ambition. If needed we can also help you get internal buy-in, then gather all the evidence and submission files needed to put a comprehensive submission forward to the SBTi.
