Helping Kingfisher group translate net-zero targets into tangible action
The big challenge
As part of our 15-year partnership, we'd already supported Kingfisher with SBTi-approved net-zero targets for scopes 1 and 2 by 2040.
As a next step, Kingfisher needed to track carbon reduction action plans across its diverse portfolio of businesses, each with its own plans, pressures and pace.
The challenge was to move beyond static projections and build a shared view of the future: one that could test different pathways, reflect real commercial constraints, and bring together decisions on areas such as heating, logistics and growth into a single, coherent picture.
Our people-shaped support
We worked side by side with Kingfisher teams to co-create a model that works for the real world, not just in theory.
Through collaborative workshops, we shaped the structure, functionality and data inputs to reflect how decisions are made across the business.
Our data team then rebuilt the modelling approach to enable flexible scenario testing and translated this into an intuitive Power BI dashboard: turning complex assumptions into insights the Kingfisher team can use. For example, modelling the carbon impact of store changes, verses changes to the fuels Kingfisher uses in its fleets. Being able to make comparable choices across the different decarbonisation levers supported the teams in their final decisions.
We weren’t done there, though – we also helped the teams get confident in using the tool and embedding it into everyday processes.
The big impact
Kingfisher now has a clear line of sight from ambition to action.
The interactive dashboard brings together scenarios, progress tracking and investment implications – enabling faster, more informed decisions across the organisation.
Crucially, net zero is no longer an abstract model. It’s a practical tool that helps teams understand trade-offs, align around priorities and move forward with confidence.
