I enjoy making the impossible seem possible - translating complex technical issues into manageable climate action plans. My work includes leading on sustainable developments and retrofit strategies, advising on their implementation, and delivering training for local authorities, developers and other built environment professionals. I am passionate about staying at the forefront of innovation and contribute to research on emerging best practice in climate-adaptive design, circularity, net-zero strategies, and holistic approaches to sustainable placemaking.

Before Bioregional

I was Head of Sustainability at Allies and Morrison, where I shaped the practice’s sustainability and decarbonisation strategies for major projects. I also founded my own company Zoe Watson Consulting, providing technical advice and training around environmental design. Additionally, I served as Sector Group Project Manager for the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard. My experience includes advising multiple local authorities on net zero guidance and environmental policy, including for the Greater London Authority’s Housing Design Standards.

I continue to sit on the steering group for UK Architects Declare and have spearheaded many campaigns, including the Building Blocks manifesto launched in Parliament in 2025. I also sit on the Ealing Council Design Review Panel as an environmental specialist.

When I’m not at work

I’m a serial hobbyist. Right now, I’m enjoying a mix of creative and active pursuits, including dancing, Chinese calligraphy, Tai Chi, gardening, and wakeboarding.
