Commissioned by DIY chain B&Q, Bioregional researched and wrote a major report on the important role household gardens play in helping to conserve our threatened and diminishing widlife in the UK.
We also examined how exposure to nature – both in our gardens and elsewhere – is good for people’s mental and physical wellbeing.
Our report was reviewed, and improved, by leading organisations in the field including the RSPB, the Wildlife Trusts, Butterfly Conservation and the Royal Horticultural Society. We considered more than 100 reports, articles, publications and datasets.
The Nature of Gardens was published by B&Q in 2017. It also included ten top tips for attracting wildlife to ordinary, compact gardens and other outdoor spaces next to our homes.
