Channel 4 made history last week with the UK's first climate debate in the lead-up to an election. Our new Senior Comms Officer Jess shares her reflections on what we learned - and why calling it a debate might have been a bit of a misbrand
Senior Communications Officer
As the Senior Communications Officer, I build awareness about Bioregional’s work and brand by creating engaging social media content, advising on PR campaigns, aiding website development and marketing its events. I’m also responsible for managing our tours around BedZED – helping tell the story of the UK’s first eco-village.
I studied for degrees in Biomedical Science and Science Communication, which ultimately led to my most recent role as PR Officer at the British Science Association. I was responsible for media coverage and content creation for the organisation – working in the press office and closely with journalists for major events such as British Science Week and the British Science Festival. I also managed wider PR, digital and social media campaigns throughout the year. I have also held positions in science conference producing, freelance writing and as a science demonstrator.
I love big woodland walks and go on walking holidays as much as possible. I’m also partial to a bit of reading, drawing, baking, and hosting parties/dinners. And any dog that passes my way puts a huge smile on my face (I want to retire with a sanctuary for old, abandoned dogs where they can live out their final days!)
