Bioregional formed the Transform Together coalition with others to catalyse the change we need to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goal 12: sustainable consumption and production
Bioregional and Beyond 2015 founded Transform Together, a multi-stakeholder network to help drive sustainable consumption and production (SCP): Goal 12 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
We already know, in so many ways, how to achieve sustainable consumption and production. The idea beyond Transform Together is to replicate and scale the fantastic business and policy solutions that are already out there.
Creating sustainable consumption and production
Sustainable Consumption and Production involves making ‘fundamental changes in the way that our societies produce and consume goods and services’ so that everyone can live a good quality of life within their fair share of our one planet’s resources.
We are currently working on consumer goods, with focus on smartphones and ICT products in particular.
Creating sustainable smartphones
In 2016, Transform Together created the Sustainable Smartphones Working Group to accelerate the path towards a more sustainable smartphones industry.
After publishing our Sustainable Smartphones report, which pinpoints opportunities to spread best practice in the industry, we are now working to:
- Share scaleable solutions by showcasing the organisations already creating a sustainable ICT sector.
- Create a compelling global vision for systems change in the industry by 2030.
- Harness the power of procurement by engaging governments to leverage their substantial purchasing power. At UNEA in March 2019, 21 governments showed significant interest in joining the partnership.
